the last of the second

Today's the last day of the month of February! Where did this month go? I know it's already such a short month, but it seems like it flew by, and now we're entering March .. and hopefully spring like weather.
I had enough of letting my hair grow. I couldn't easily make it flip anymore, and it wasn't holding any volume and looking drabbier then usual .. so today, sans kids .. I went and got it cut. What is it about a new cut that makes a person feel sexier, lighter, perkier, just all around different? So now after shedding the winter growth .. here's to hoping spring arrives soon .. melting this snow and letting the crocuses errupt through the earth.

snow day

Once again, Mother Nature has blasted us with her white, sparkly, glittery, cold substance .. and left my little town all covered in a white blanket of cleanliness. It's pretty, I do admit .. but making it so the kids can't go to school is so not fair for us parents. They just had Monday and Tuesday off as Pro-D days!! So maybe today will end up being an outdoor play day, and when that gets old .. we'll do some crafting. I have a couple birthday cards I need to make.
And I'll be certain to take pictures .. ones that will show exactly how much snow accumulated after an entire night of snowfall. The above picture was last night about 6pm.

f.i.n.a.l.l.y!!

Third time lucky .. or maybe it's because 3 is my favourite number? .. but whatever the case, today's attempt at taking the test for the current unit I was on, finally gave me a passing grade. Forget about the low 50% highschool grades we used to get away with as passing .. now it's 80%!! Which wasn't a big deal for the first unit, but this long unit with only one test on the entire contents proved to be my criptonite. But today, I get to celebrate because I passed. Not only did I pass, but I only got 8 questions wrong giving me a wonderful .. wait for it .. 92%!!!
I'm feeling rather proud of myself! Now I get to move on to a much more interesting unit .. on terminology. I think I may have to celebrate humpday style! :)

twisted wordless wednesday

I have no photo I've taken to share, but I've been enjoying my new favourite photographer work magic with my favourite kind of photo .. black and white.
His image from yesterday is currently on my desktop. It speaks volumes and I'm not sure it would do so if it were in colour. You can literally feel the passion, the dedication the musician has .. and the prideless joy of creating music on upside down buckets with a lonely cymbol.
This is another photo, that if taken in colour .. wouldn't cast the same shadows, wouldn't portray the same cold, crisp and clear day it must have been.
To take a fantastic black and white photo is interesting and challenging all at the same time. If gives you the chance to focus on other aspects of the scenery/subject you're taking. I do appreciate a well taken, b&w photo, anyday!

Here's where I hang out when I need a little eye candy.

Happy 1000th to me!

I don't post as often as some bloggers, but since December 2005, I think I've talked/shared alot to make it to that number of posts. Thanks for sticking around and sharing in all the good/bad/trying/etc times. Hopefully it hasn't been to depressing, and if it has been, drink up the champagne .. there's plenty where that came from. ;)

Let's have a little celebration, shall we?

Sunday morning addictions

In the beginning of November, I started watching Coronation Street, and have since become seriously addicted to the storylines and many of the actors. Usually with the company of another even more serious Corrie addict, a cup(s) of coffee, and two and a half hours of free time, Sunday mornings have been spent submerged in the goings on in Weatherfield.

One of my favourite female actresses on the show has been in the news, I discovered as I stumbled upon the story while browsing the internet this afternoon. Along with this there have been other recent tragedies, and the producers have stalled taping for a day to let the actors involved, have their time.

The storylines have gotten good, and I'm not sure how I'll wait until next Sunday to watch the week's worth of shows in one lump installment. Have I mentioned how much I love this show?
So much so that I've found 'behind the scenes' dvds at my local library. I have MANY years to catch up on .. tho I'm focusing more on the current characters/storylines, and trying to find out why they are how they are and how twisted and winding their involvment is with other characters. It really is a great Soap!

mmm mmm mmm

A first time try at making mousse, and I do think they turned out wonderful. I didn't have one last night, but the girls gave scrumptious reviews on the strawberry one (right). The purple is none other then grape .. and the version we used for it was so that it separated into the layers you see. The strawberry one was made using this recipe.
And we recommend that you don't keep them overnight. Fresh is best!

*update .. I had the strawberry last night and OMG .. it's orgasmic .. seriously!

sing song

I don't listen to country music .. in fact, I have my car radio station tuned into the top 40 pop chart .. but somehow this Taylor Swift song slipped through the cracks and so after listening to it a time or two, it's grown on me. It's catchy and cute .. but I doubt I'll be her next number 1 fan anytime soon.

80s cartoons!

As a parent to children that are of the cartoon watching age, I feel like I can say that the cartoons now adays are no where near what they used to be when I was growing up.
The 80's brought THE best ever cartoon lineup .. especially Saturday mornings.

I was reminiscing with J last night, and we kept coming up with more and more we liked. Our list included Hercules, She-ra, Transformers, Inspector Gadget, the Racoons, Carebears, Fables of the Green Forest, Gummi Bears and then there were others like the Smurfs, Fraggle Rock, My Little Pony, Duck Tales, Thundercats, Jem and the Holograms, the Muppets, and Strawberry Shortcake. The list can go on and on .. it really is crazy the selection of amazing cartoons we as children were exposed to.

Watch this little clip, and let the memories come blasting back to you, like they did me. It's very exciting! :P

Or maybe that's smitten girl! The one thing Alissa missed the most during her time away this past weekend, was our kitty, Meesha. She even said so .. tho I DID get my big hug, so I know she missed me too! Last evening she cuddled, pet, snuggled, tortured, fed, played with, did I mentione tortured?, the cat to make up for lost time. She missed him so much, and as much as he isn't a fan of it .. he did end up sleeping with her during the night as well. I captured this little sweet moment this morning. I know better then to take pictures into the sun, but with children and animals .. you have to get what you can take.

This is a declaration of love for the man that has been my rock, my comfort, my best friend .. someone I've laughed with, cried with, shared secrets, stories, memories, so many similarities, a passion for food, music, etc. ;) Everything in life happens for a reason .. and I know why it is we came to be.
My favourite evening is spent curled up on the couch, watching a movie we both end up totally engrossed in.
This is another one of the first special days .. and I can't wait to spend many more of these with you. I love you, J! Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!
