I've learned something about myself recently. I think I discovered this before, but just getting a new perspective and although I know, I'm not sure how to go about changing it.

Since December I have been working two part time jobs. Some weeks I work 8, 9 or even 10 days straight. Some weeks I get two days off together, other weeks I work a bunch of days, get one day off, and work another insane amount of days. I do this so I get accumulate enough hours from both jobs to make full time hours, but it can get crazy. Having said all that .. it makes for a busy life. And although I can rest in the evenings after I've dealt with making/cleaning up dinner, homework, communicating with the girls, puttering (cuz you know a house doesn't run itself), and finally falling in to bed, I tend to withdraw from people around me.

I don't email my sisters as regularly as I should or as much as I want to, I've withdrawn from my Island friends, I've neglected relationships all in the name of fatigue. The new friends I'm making, I don't venture to do anything with them. I tend to only those that depend on me .. and that would be the girls. I feel horrible for doing that, but I just don't have the energy to put out. I'm guessing this will have to change at some point, because how far can one go just to make ends meet in this world.

There I've admitted it .. I neglect my relationships and pull away from people for the sake of MY time. How bad is that! :(

spring walks

With the weather starting to turn so warm, we've enjoyed a couple evening walks and this one was just around the block and across the street.  We live near the railway and there's an overhead walkway (that apparently is NOT safe after dark according to my cop brother in law) but that didn't stop us from seeing the sight during the day.  It was beautiful, but we were hoping one of the trains would start moving, to make standing above them that much more exciting, but alas .. they were stopped for the night.

locks of love

For the last few years, Hailey has been growing her hair out so she could one day have it cut and donated to Locks of Love.  If you know Hailey, you would know she was a bald baby until she was three, and her hair grows VERY slowly .. so this became a big commitment. So finally it was time .. we took a little three day trip further into Ontario, to a little city to spend some of the spring break from school, and Hailey had her hair cut.  She picked the style she wanted (keeping in mind she'd need a pretty short cut to make sure she got the 10+ inches) and we could only hope it suited her. And it does!!!  I love it, and so does she!

This is just one way she can wear the cut.  There's lots she can do with it and she's excited about that!  She's even excited about wearing longer earings without them getting wrapped up in her long hair!

I'm so proud of her!  Locks of Love is strictly for children in need of wigs .. and that's what made Hailey choose that particular charity, so a child her age or younger will receive HER hair!
