i'm back

I'm back home, back to my routine, back to my own bed and green island. The last week I've faced some of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with in my life. Coming home hasn't been all roses either. The stupid tears won't stop!
Anyway, on that very vague note, I'm going to go unpack and cuddle with my girlies who have become pretty big Mommy girls lately.

heading north

See the red star? That's where I'm headed from my pretty little Island, today .. for ten days. I get to spend time with my parents (who I haven't seen since about this time last year), and my siblings and their families that live up there. I'll most likely be able to update and check in on occasion, so I won't say 'goodbye', just 'see you later'.

I'm also counting down to my man's visit in just two weeks, one days time! Oh how I can't wait! An entire week of fuuuuun and umm, more fun of course! :)

9 days to J's birthday

don't you be dissing!

Of all people to diss on .. why would the province I live in do such a thing to a fellow countryman? Coors should be ashamed! I happen to know of at least one Torontonian that is NOT cold .. in fact, he's rather hot in my opinion! ;) Good thing they're changing those ads to something a little more appropriate, or I'd have to make a phone call to their head office, myself. Don't you be dissing on my man's city, Coors!

hump day .. a little Xx3 rated .. be warned

My little joy in the week, is posting my humpday (or mid week) post. Because humpday slowly took over from 'wordless wednesday' because I'm much to yappy to keep my words to myself and let a photo tell the story, I find that I'm searching out the perfect photo for each Wednesday. And for some reason .. I've made it a personal challenge that each week outdo the other .. and so on that note, I bring you umm, what shall we call her?
If this photo isn't photoshopped, then it's genius! I wonder what she looked like after the sixth and final hop tho. hah!
I know, I know .. I can willingly proclaim myself a perv. But if you know me well .. that's not exactly news. :P

all in a days time

Along with the complex being painted last year, it was each home owners responsibility to paint their own fences and finally I'm taking the bull by the horns and doing our little bit of fence. I did the taller fence that separates my neighbour from us, but this morning, Hailey wanted to help with the shorter section and so donning her old oversized t-shirt .. I let her at it. She did as much as she wanted, and then I took over again from her. The wood is old and soaks up alot of paint, and it's certainly not the works of an expert, but who cares, right? We are having fun doing it. :)

And this afternoon, I had the huge pleasure of FINALLY meeting a long time blogging friend of mine. Miss Lael herself! Actually, I met her and her hubby, Durell (sp?), as they made their way over to Tofino to celebrate their anniversary. She is just as lovely, just as vibrant, just as cheeky and just as beautiful in person as she is on her blog and facebook. We had great conversation and her husband put up with us and even participated with a story or two. What a guy! My only regret is that I can't enjoy a 'big girl' evening with her. I think she'd be such fun to hang out with. :)

Sunday, August 16, 2009

There's a couple things in our very near future that I'll be counting down to. Firstly, I've been generously given the opportunity for the girls and I to visit my parents and family that live in my old home town. With both my parents having health issues, this trip holds an importance factor for me. Going any longer then a year between visits at their older age probably isn't a good idea. I'm looking forward to helping my Mom with some extras, giving her a break from what has become a pretty taxing environment for her, and also just plain old catching up and visiting in person with her. I want to spend some good quality time with my Dad, and hope that even tho he won't remember our special moments much past the end of my visit, at least I have those memories to hold on to.
*5 days

The other is definitely topping the charts in my books. My incredibly awsome boyfriend is coming to spend a week with the girls and I. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am!
Oh the things we can plan on doing .. just hanging out and enjoying eachothers company. :)

movie review on Knowing

So Knowing looked like a great movie, but when we started it, right off the top it was scary. I'm a wuss (I can admit it), and just am not into scary movies. I think the whole movie could have carried off a storyline without the addition of the weird aliens .. tho at the end, I'm not sure how they could have finished it without them, but still! Did they have to make me cover my eyes and turn the volume off? I do think Nicolas Cage did great with his part, and so did the children. All in all, I guess it's a pretty good movie .. IF you like abit of a thrill. Me? not so much!
I know this turned into a pretty lame movie review, but its my personal opinion, and if you want to still watch it .. just be prepared. I think the graphics and computer simulations were pretty good, definitely added to the whole awe factor at the end. :)

it's movie date night :)

Tonight, my guy and I are watching I Love You, Man! After a long week for J, and a crazy stressful night and morning for me (read previous post regarding trojan/viruses) .. we're in dire need of a glass of wine and a funny movie. Here's the trailer, so you can see what we'll be laughing our asses off to. I can't wait!

trojan/virus alert

Yesterday, while doing some things on the computer .. I accidentally clicked on something called a Personal Antivirus. Oh how wrong that was! It ended up infecting my computer with all sorts of trojans and over a thousand different viruses. I was at my wits end, even crying because it was a mess. A horrible technical mess that I right away fell victim to and allowed myself to act the victim. Until my wonderful boyfriend calmed me down and directed me to the right sources. At first I didn't find one to work for me, because they'd scan my computer, but then when it came to quarantining and deleting infections, they'd then ask for me to upgrade to the full version and then pay. Money is always tight, and that wasn't an option I could do, so this morning I went in search for a free full version and found one. Thanks to Spyware Doctor, my computer is now clean and working faster then it was to begin with.
So my message for today is .. do NOT say yes to the Personal Antivirus, and if you find trojans entitled trojan.win32.agent.czsy or trojan.bloodhound.pdf.8 (or many more .. I found over 20 on my hard drive), do yourself a favour and click on my spyware doctor link above. I hope I can save you the tears I shed in frustration, yesterday.

snowbirds

The snowbirds came to town .. something they've never done before. I've never had such an experience, and so you can imagine my thrill would be to capture these amazing stunts on camera. We had a pretty good view from the rooftop of a mall .. and it was exciting and thrilling to hear the loud engines zip past when the planes were coming in or setting up for their next maneuver. I took about 50 pretty good shots, and about the same number of duds .. but for the most part, I'm happy with them. I still can't get over how two planes can come full force at eachother, and then flip to the side and do a quick near miss.

a visual humpday

The 30ft erection, named Sky Pillar, has been built at Longwan Shaman Amusement Park in Changchun city.
Builders wrapped more than 6,500ft of straw around the steel structure which stands on an altar atop 1,250ft high Qinlong Hill.
"It is a totem of Shamanistic culture, which originated in this city," says the president of the park, Cheng Weiguang.

electrified rumbles

A couple weeks ago, we had a thunder and lightening storm while fireworks were being set off in honour of our town's Bathtub Race weekend. I tried to capture the lightening, because its licks and forks across the sky were to magnificent not to at least try. But I was sadly unsuccessful. Partially because one needs a tripod and a quick trigger finger, and I had neither along with me that night.

Just the other night, Toronto had a wicked storm come through and I got to hear the rumblings of the thunder when on the phone with my boyfriend. He took some pictures for me, to see the darkness the black clouds caused and how the wind whipped mercilessly around, but it wasn't until the next day upon seeing this image, that I truly saw how magnificent and awesome the storm really was. This photo was taken by a Toronto based photographer (Sam Javanrouh)who keeps a blog where he shares images on a daily basis, that gives a neat perspective of the city. If you've never been there (like me) his photos give you the wow of what such a large city is like, but he also shows the down to earth things too.

I'm not the biggest fan of thunder storms, but if I know I'm safe .. I can appreciate them and enjoy them for what they're worth. And seeing each vein of lightening as it streaks across the sky .. there's no other word that I can describe it as then with 'awesome'.

saturday

We found out about this 'block party' being put on by one of the small art theaters in the area, and the flyer said there was sure to be lots of fun things for the kids to do .. and all free! So before heading out to visit my sister in law for the afternoon, the girls and I headed over there. There were pony rides, a jumping castle, face painting, remote cars, cotton candy, popcorn, hotdogs, and so much more. We had a great time, even with the overcast skies.

Meet Cooper, the Co-op bear mascot. I discovered he's a little bit of a perv! He was goofing off her with the girls .. hence their faces being covered. He likes his hugs (or so the person walking with him said), and so he was hitting up everyone for hugs. Yes, even me! He didn't just hug, he did this wiggle dance thing to the music playing.
There's something strange about hugging a mascot anyway, but when he wouldn't let go, it was just plain weird. And then later, he found us again, and came in for another hug for me only. I told the person with him that I hadn't had so much attention from a bear before, this was my second hug, and she only responded saying 'Cooper loves his hugs'. Uhh, yeah sure Cooper .. you wiggly perv!

I had alot more pictures from this and the rest of our afternoon, even a video of a dead jelly fish we found .. but somehow they didn't load onto the computer and I didn't realize before deleting them off my camera. :( I'm just a little pissed at myself for not double checking.

a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do

Seeings that I'm still enrolled and actively working on my MT course, summer is not 'off' for me. And although I have the relaxed schedule of allowing time to enjoy the heat, beaches, and other summer activities with the girls .. I still have to work time into the day when I study.
So taking my books to the beach yesterday afternoon seemed like the perfect solution, and other then the slight breeze that kept flipping my papers .. it worked magically. Well, okay I was distracted with the noises and goings on around me, but I was able to read, highlight, fill in a worksheet, and read some more.

I'm currently studying the respiratory system .. tho in much greater detail then the photo depicts. Did you know when you inhale, you're drawing in breaths with 21% oxygen, and exhaling 16% of that? No wonder we need to breath alot!

neglectful

I've been a bad bad blogger (or journalist I suppose the case may be since I only have the ten of you reading). What's been keeping me busy? Nothing specific, just lots of little things, but it's good to have those kinds of days.
Yesterday afternoon we met my friend Darla, and her kidlets for a hot few hours of fun in the water park. There was a small film crew there taking footage for some 2010 promo advertisement in which they'd like to promote visiting Nanaimo as part of the whole experience. Darla got to the park first and signed an agreement, but the lady never did come around to me for my permission. I highly doubt our kids will be in the advert anyway because the selected one particular boy to say a one-liner as water gushed down ontop of his head. Talk about chinese torture, but the kid was a trooper .. probably because he's going to have his 1.8 seconds of fame?

Tomorrow's humpday! woohoo! And that's all I have in me to talk about today.
Bubye people! *said in her most seductive voice* ;)

big girl time

Nobody posed us on purpose, but it looks like we ended up lining up from tallest to shortest? or there abouts anyway.
I spent 10 hours with these fun and amazing girls, and we agreed we need to do this again .. very soon. The afternoon was hot, and perfect for lounging in the waist deep, above ground pool .. either on a floating device or just crouching to submerge and cool off every inch of flesh. We had appies, dinner and snacks .. lots of drinks (some had more then others :P) and pure inhibited fun!
This photo was taken around midnight'ish, and as you can see, by that point I was abit chilled (hence the jacket). The wind was warm, but it did kick up quite abit, and after lowering ones body temperature in the pool until well after dark .. and even after we all donned dry clothes, being chilly was inevitable .. or at least for me, such a wuss that I am. :P

I have way more photos .. some revealing, some showing the silly giggly side, and some that I just don't care to post to save our angelic images. Let me just say that the floaty noodle will never be looked at in the same way again. ;)

hailey'isms

Earlier this week, after a few nights of restless hot slumber, Hailey woke up one morning and commented that she had been awake most of the night. She knew this because the amount of sleep she cleaned from her eyes wasn't enough. I laughed, but didn't really get into it with her until the next morning when she had gotten a much better sleep, and upon coming downstairs, she declared her sleep was so much better and longer because she had to clean alot of sleep from her eyes. Two mornings of this, and I HAD to laugh, because really .. where does she get stuff like that from? I've never said anything of the sort, that I remember anyway.
