the good, the bad, the sore

the good...
we got out, got some exercise, fresh air, spent time as a family, had some good conversations, got to smile and greet fellow outdoors people and their furry friends.

the bad...
chose the wrong nature path to try biking (hilly and 6kms was to long), had to motivate two rather sluggish girls for the last 3kms, mostly walked the bikes due to already mentioned hills and soft ground that made it rather hard to peddle across.

the sore...
my legs, my back, my knees, my arms, even my hands hurt! My rear end (but not as badly as it could have thanks to my oh so luxurious gel seat), even my mouth hurts (not related to yesterday tho).

the experience...
We motivated our girls to go the extra mile (literally) and that extra positive enforcements made them ride/walk-push bikes the entire way. We got our exercise as a family, which is instilling good healthy values and despite my whispering complaints to D about it not being much fun .. hindsight made me re evaluate and I do think we had fun.
Next time we know to choose a more flat trail, that's about half the distance. We'll work our way up to this particular trail again, but for just starting out (me on my newish bike, having not ridden one since I was a teen and Alissa sans her training wheels and not to mention just getting through a long winter of no riding) we'll have to start slow and gain momentum during the summer.
